Blog 2: Addressing Ageing Concerns with Regenerative Treatments

Recap: Why We Age

In the first blog of this three-part series, we explored how ageing affects the body at every level—skin, fat, muscle, and bone. These changes create the visible signs of ageing: lines, wrinkles, sagging, uneven pigmentation, and a general loss of vitality.

This second blog looks more closely at the concerns people commonly present with in clinic and explains how different regenerative and injectable treatments can be prescribed to target the specific underlying causes.

Common Concerns Identified in Consultation

Every consultation begins with assessing what changes are creating the concerns you see in the mirror. Pinpointing whether ageing is being driven by muscle activity, loss of collagen, changes in volume, or reduced skin quality allows us to recommend the best treatment or combination of treatments.

The most common concerns include:

  • Loss of collagen and elastin → leading to fine lines, deeper wrinkles, and sagging skin.

  • Decline in skin quality → skin looking dull, tired, rough, or dehydrated.

  • Loss of facial volume → hollowing, flattening of the cheeks, sagging skin from a shrinking framework.

  • Pigmentation and vascular changes → redness, brown spots, uneven tone.

Regenerative and Injectable Treatment Options

Jalupro® (amino acids + hyaluronic acid)

Jalupro provides the essential amino acids—the raw materials the body needs to build new collagen and elastin. When injected into the skin, it restores hydration and stimulates fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing structural proteins. This process tightens and rejuvenates the skin from within.

  • Jalupro Classic

Ideal for improving skin quality, texture, and radiance in areas of general concern.

  • Jalupro Super Hydro

Contains additional hyaluronic acid and peptides. When placed into the deep retaining ligaments of the face, it delivers collagen stimulation exactly where structural support is needed, strengthening these ligaments and providing a natural lifting effect.

  • Jalupro Young Eye

Specially formulated for the delicate under-eye area, Young Eye improves crepiness, fine lines, and hollowing. It restores hydration and elasticity while reducing that “tired look” which so many clients want to improve.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments that encourage cells to repair themselves, improve elasticity, and restore tissue health. They are particularly useful for delicate or compromised skin.

  • Key distinction: Amino acids (like Jalupro) revitalise by feeding the process of collagen and elastin production, while polynucleotides stimulate the body’s regenerative repair pathways.

  • The best choice depends on an individual’s skin health, age, and needs—sometimes a course of polynucleotides combined with Jalupro offers the most comprehensive results, addressing both stimulation and revitalisation.

Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra®)

Sculptra is a biostimulator that works gradually over months, encouraging the body to produce new collagen in deeper layers of the skin. It restores soft volume, improves firmness, and enhances overall skin quality with results lasting up to two years.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP uses your own platelets to stimulate healing and collagen renewal. It is microneedled into the skin, making it especially effective in the upper dermis where it improves tone, texture, and under-eye quality. However, results depend on the quality of the plasma itself—those in poor health may see less response.

Exosomes

Exosomes work in a similar way to PRP but represent the next step forward. These cell-signalling particles encourage regeneration, repair, and reduced inflammation. Like PRP, they are microneedled into the skin to directly enhance dermal quality. Unlike PRP, however, exosomes are manufactured to a consistent standard, guaranteeing high-quality regenerative potential in every treatment.

Anti-wrinkle injections

While not a regenerative medicine choice - Anti-wrinkle injections remain an excellent best choice for softening or preventing lines caused by repetitive muscle activity such as frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet and can be used in conjunction with regenerative medicines

Dermal fillers

Again, while not a regenerative medicine, Dermal filler is an excellent choice to complement regenrative medicine, particularly when an underlying cause of aging is bone reabsorption (or shrinking). Filler can be used to replace lost volume, for regenerated tissues to sit upon a frame more reflective of someone's younger years. Still valuable, but increasingly complemented—or in some cases replaced—by regenerative therapies for a softer, more natural restoration.

The Crucial Role of Medical-Grade Skincare

Even the most advanced injectable or regenerative treatment is only part of the solution. What you do every day at home plays an equally important role.

At TT Medical Clinic, we recommend AlumierMD as our first choice in medical-grade skincare. Unlike over-the-counter ranges, medical-grade products contain clinically proven concentrations of active ingredients and are only prescribed following a professional consultation.

Importantly, skincare is never “one size fits all.” Every person’s skin has different needs, which is why we create bespoke, individualised skincare regimes. These are formulated following a detailed clinical assessment and, where appropriate, advanced analysis using our Observ skin scanner. This technology allows us to see beneath the surface of the skin, identifying hidden damage, pigmentation, sensitivity, or early signs of ageing that may not yet be visible to the eye.

With this information, we can select from the wide AlumierMD portfolio to address your precise concerns. For example:

  • Sensitivity → calming, barrier-repairing formulations.

  • Pigmentation → targeted brightening and pigment-suppressing actives.

  • Ageing and dullness → products with clinically active ingredients that stimulate renewal and collagen production.

The right products work synergistically with in-clinic treatments to strengthen the skin barrier, boost hydration, and protect against future damage.

We often explain it this way: you wouldn’t visit the dentist once a year and then not brush your teeth every day. The same principle applies to your skin—consistent, high-quality care at home is essential to protect your investment and maintain healthy, radiant skin for years to come.

Combining Treatments for Multifactorial Concerns

Ageing is rarely caused by a single factor, and most people present with multiple concerns at once—skin laxity, dullness, fine lines, and pigmentation. That’s why combination approaches often provide the most powerful results.

  • Polynucleotides + Jalupro → stimulation and revitalisation working together.

  • Jalupro + energy devices → tightening and resurfacing, supporting structure and surface quality (to be discussed further in Blog 3).

  • PRP or exosomes with microneedling → improved dermal quality and texture, especially in fragile areas like the under-eye.

By layering treatments, we can design a plan that restores skin health at every level while keeping results natural and balanced.

Putting It All Together

By identifying whether concerns are caused by collagen loss, reduced skin quality, volume changes, or pigmentation, we can match treatments accordingly:

  • Lines and wrinkles → anti-wrinkle injections, Jalupro, polynucleotides

  • Dull or rough skin → Jalupro, PRP, exosomes, medical-grade skincare

  • Loss of firmness or lift → Sculptra, Jalupro Super Hydro, radiofrequency microneedling

  • Hollowing or sagging → fillers or Sculptra

  • Pigmentation and redness → AlumierMD skincare, laser treatments, polynucleotides

Often, the best results come from combining approaches in a tailored treatment plan.

Looking Ahead

In this second blog, we’ve explored the main ageing concerns and how regenerative injectables, PRP, exosomes, and skincare can address them.

In the final part of this series, we’ll focus on combination therapies, looking specifically at how pairing injectables with energy-based devices such as radiofrequency microneedling and CO₂ laser can create truly transformative results.
